The Bible is a book of life and building. What are life and building as revealed in the Word? Life is God in Christ as the living content, and building is the corporate expression of the Triune God who is wrought into us as life.

“The Bible begins and ends with life and building. In Genesis 1 and 2 we see God’s purpose in His creation of man to gain His building by dispensing Himself as life into man, and in Revelation 21 and 22 we see the New Jerusalem, the city of life, which is the eternal corporate expression of God as well as the consummation of life and building. Between the first two chapters and the last two chapters of the Bible, there is a wide gap. During this long span we see a struggle between God and His enemy, Satan, concerning God’s intention to gain His building…. We need to see a clear vision from the Bible that God created man for His purpose to gain His building, His corporate expression, by imparting Himself as life into man, that Satan came in to damage man and to frustrate God from carrying out His purpose, that Satan will be cast into the lake of fire, and that God’s purpose will ultimately be fulfilled in the New Jerusalem.”
